The Hayfield boys basketball team had a couple of late turnovers cost it as the Vikings lost 52-49 to Goodhue (18-2 overall, 10-2 HVL), which is ranked No. 6 in Class A, on the road Friday.

The Vikings (10-10 overall, 6-6 HVL) had just four turnovers on the night, but two of them came in the last 35 seconds when they trailed by two points.

“We took care of the ball the whole game and unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to tie or take the lead,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said. “We played really well.”
