According to the report, Ayala was driving westbound on Second Avenue Southwest when she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, hitting the victim’s vehicle, which was southbound on Fourth Street Southwest. The crash occurred at 10:24 p.m.

The victim refused medical attention, but later was seen at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin. Her injuries, according to the report, proved to be “significant.”

Ayala allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was cited for a misdemeanor DWI. When it was found later that the victim was injured, the charge was raised to a felony count. She could also face charges of violating an instruction permit, under age 21 consumption and failure to stop at a stop sign. The report will be forwarded to the county attorney for formal charges.
