Maureen Mulvey Momsen, 66

Maureen Mulvey Momsen, 66, of Austin, Minnesota, died at her home on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, after a year-long struggle with cholangiocarcinoma. She was surrounded by family and friends.
Maureen was born on Jan. 28, 1950, in Buffalo, New York, to Arthur and Margaret Mulvey. She graduated from Cooper High School in New Hope, Minnesota, in 1967, and the University of Minnesota in 1971. She was a scientist and spent most of her career at The Hormel Institute in Austin. Maureen married William (Bill) Momsen on Aug. 28, 1971, in Plymouth, Minnesota.
Maureen enjoyed playing cards and games, racket sports, and being outdoors. She visited every state park in Minnesota. Spending time with family and friends ranked as her favorite thing to do.
Maureen is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Eric (Jenni) Momsen, Kyle (Nicole) Momsen, and Kelly (Jason) Walsh; grandchildren, Autumn, Lila, and Ian Momsen; brothers, Dennis (Judy) Mulvey and Mark (Nancy) Mulvey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Momsen; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly Momsen (Robert Brocklehurst), Bradley Momsen (Rick Buchholz), Bonnie Brill, and Brian (Janell) Momsen; and many other cherished relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Mulvey; mother, Margaret Mulvey; grandparents; and brother-in-law, Michael Brill.
Maureen will be missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary, with Father James Steffes officiating. The service will be followed by a light luncheon. Maureen supported many charities (The Jay C. Hormel Nature Center in Austin is one example) and suggested that those who wanted to make a charitable contribution in her name should choose one of their favorite charities.
