Jeanette V. Tapp, 93

Jeanette V. Tapp, 93, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.

Jeanette was born July 15, 1923, in Austin, to Carter and Anna (Lindquist) Johnson. She graduated from Austin High School in 1942 and later that year she married Kenneth Tapp on Nov. 6 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Rectory. To this union, three children were born, Barbara, Karen, and Randall.

Jeanette was primarily a homemaker and raised her children, but she also worked briefly at George A. Hormel Company, St. Olaf Hospital, and after she received her CNA training, she worked as a home health aide. Jeanette lived in Austin her entire life.

Jeanette was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Garden Club. She enjoyed camping, fishing, making ceramics and lefse, playing in card clubs, snowmobiling and square dancing. She loved to travel with Kenneth and their trip to Sweden was the highlight trip of her life.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters: Barbara (Eugene) Borden, Fernley, Nevada, and Karen (Duwayne) Anderson, Austin; son, Randall (Julie) Tapp, Austin; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth in 2011, and brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Beverly Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Karen Behling officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and at the church on Friday morning for one hour before the service.
