At Austin High School in my junior year I was involved in a school activity called Link Crew. Link Crew is an activity where you help the incoming ninth graders adjust to the high school by showing them around the school and answering any questions that they may have.

In the second semester of my junior year I was given the opportunity to take Riverland Community College classes at the high school through post-secondary enrollment options. So far I have taken humanities, freshmen English and government, and the second semester of my senior year I will take speech and microeconomics.

Throughout my school career I was in orchestra where I played the violin for seven years. Outside of school I have been in piano for nine years. I have also been involved in Just For Kix dance for 14 years. In the past at my church I also was a Sunday school helper for kindergarteners. I also have volunteered for the Salvation Army as a bell ringer.

In the fall of 2017 I will be attending Minnesota State University at Mankato. I plan on pursuing the dental hygiene program.

The dental hygiene program is limited to only 20 students per fall semester so being one of those 20 students is a very big goal of mine. I also hope that after I graduate from college that I will end up living in Rochester, Minnesota, and working at a dental office.

One person who has had a positive impact on my academic life in school is my guidance counselor, Mrs. Kennan. She has been my counselor since 10th grade. She has helped and encouraged me when I had a difficult class. She has also helped me make important decisions regarding what classes I should take. School has sometimes been difficult for me and she has always been there to help me when I need it.
