Girls basketball: Packers fall short at the buzzer

The Austin girls basketball team suffered a big heartbreak after a big comeback as it lost 57-56 to Northfield (9-2 overall, 6-1 Big Nine) on the road Friday.
The Packers (5-5 overall, 4-3 Big Nine) led 56-54 after trailing 23-7 early on, but the Raiders won the game when Grace Touchette hit a buzzer beating three-pointer.
Colie Justice scored 16 points for the Packers and Abby Lewis had 12 points and seven rebounds.
Austin’s game scheduled against Rochester John Marshall on Jan. 14 has been moved to 3:30 p.m.
