Dane will move to the next level of competition. There he will participate in a computer-generated state qualifying test. Should he advance, the next step is the national level, said instructor Cori McRae.

The bee uses materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to motivate students to learn about the world and how it works. The top prize nationally is a $50,000 college scholarship and other prizes.
