Roger E. Dahle Jr., 59

Roger E. Dahle Jr., 59, of Owatonna, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Roger was born Sept. 5, 1957, in Waseca, Minnesota, the son of Roger Dahle Sr. and Darlene (Richard) Steinberg. He attended school in Waseca. He served in the United States Navy on board the USS Independence from Sept. 12, 1975, until April 28, 1977. Roger was united in marriage to Susan Klampe on Aug. 1, 1974, and in their union they had three children. They later divorced. He met Bonnie Schmidt and in their union had a son.

Roger received his training for Auto Mechanic at Austin VoTech, graduating in 1985. He worked at Mobile in Austin, Ford in Owatonna, Lewer Auto in Waseca, and Belzers in Lakeville. In 1995, he fulfilled his life long dream, and opened Dahle’s Auto Repair in Owatonna. After his shop closed he worked at George’s Auto Repair and Mike’s Truck and Diesel.

Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, along with coaching their sports. He was resilient, honest, bold, and hard working.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Tasha) Dahle of Stewart, Minnesota, Jessica Dahle of Owatonna, Stephanie (Alex) Dahle-Adams of Washington, D.C., Jacob Dahle of Owatonna, Brandy Schmidt of Owatonna, and Patrick Schmidt of Austin, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren, Tangela, Danae, AnnaLee, Ashton, Lillian, Noah, Elizabeth, Alexis, Tyler, Caleb, Leif, and Kamaya; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Violet, Adelaide, and Landon; mother, Darlene Steinberg of Faribault, Minnesota; siblings, Vicky (Bud) Wright, Angela Steinberg and fiancé, Gary Kulman, and Ricky (Kate) Steinberg all of Faribault.

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Roger Dahle Sr. and Richard Steinberg; sister, Cheryl Bailey.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault with full military honors conducted by the Steele County Military Funeral Unit. Memorials are preferred to the family.
