The Austin girls swimming and diving team had a solid outing at the Section 1A preliminaries meet in Rochester Wednesday.

Austin senior Maddie Mullenbach is in prime position to make it to her first ever Class A state swimming and diving meet as she is in second place with a score of 248.40 after the diving preliminaries. Mullenbach has a 20-point lead on the third place diver.

Advancing to the Friday’s finals in Rochester for Austin were the following: the 200-yard medley relay team of Emma Kleis, Zoe Dolan Peterson, Abby Schammel, and Molly Garry, Schammel and Kristina Thorson in the 200-yard freestyle, Shannan Kelly in the 200-yard individual medley, Kleis and Gogolewski in the 50-yard freestyle, Schammel and Kelly in the 100-yard butterfly, Gogolewski in the 100-yard freestyle, Kleis in the 100-yard backstroke, Dolan Peterson in the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kelly, Garry, Thorson and Gogolewski.
