Champlin, 94

Ory Ann Helene Champlin, 94, of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving family.

Ory Ann Thompson was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Freeborn County, Minnesota, to Astor and Johanna (Aldahl) Thompson. A 1941 graduate of Austin High School, Ory worked for Hormel Foods Corporation in the early 1940s. On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1942, she was united in marriage to Donald Champlin at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church parsonage in Austin. The couple raised five children. Ory enjoyed her role as homemaker and raising her children. She was a very patient person and was a caregiver to her husband Don for several years, which allowed him to stay in their home. Don passed away in 1997. Among Ory’s favorite pastimes were sewing, gardening, doing crafts, and spending time with friends and family. She belonged to St. Olaf Lutheran Church as well as the Garden Club for many years. She volunteered her time to the church, belonged to WELCA, and she loved to bake. Ory was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Daryl (Judy) Champlin of Austin, Janice (David) Wistrcill of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Duane (Julie) Champlin of Austin, Douglas Champlin and David (Matira) Champlin, also of Austin; nine grandchildren, Stephen (Jenny), Kristen (Jeremy), Nicole (Adam), Lisa (John), Erin (Justin), Alex, Miller, Madellane and Lenise (Kevin); 15 great-grandchildren, Mason, Ian, Michael, Lucas, Katelyn, Ashley (Mike), Taylor, Isaac, Ivy, Weston, Carson, Bode, Jackson, Barrett and Grif; and three great-great grandchildren, Landen, Elsie and Crosby.
