The second in a three-part series of “Wake Up Austin!” roundtable discussions focusing on local drug use will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Knowlton Auditorium at Austin High School.

FBI Special Agent Ryan Meinecke will talk about the epidemic of opiate use.

Attendees will view the film, “Chasing the Dragon,” which focuses on the life of an opiate addict.

Following the film, roundtable discussion will take place. Those on the panel will be Brian Marquart, the Department of Public Safety’s gang and drug coordinator; Vincent Scheckel, commander of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crime Enforcement Team; Kristen Nelson, Mower County Attorney; and a local family living with the aftermath of addiction.

CEUs are available for those outside of the Austin School District; local employees will use a sign in sheet.
