Volleyball: Tigers knock off Packers

The No. 12 seeded Austin volleyball team started with some fire, but its season came to an end when it was swept by No. 5 Farmington on the road in a Section 1AAA tournament opener Wednesday.

The Tigers (19-9 overall) won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-7, 25-12.

Austin (4-22 overall) played even with the Tigers early on, but it couldn’t keep the pace.

Austin senior Amber Hansen had three kills and Awenia Nywesh had three blocks.

“I thank the seniors,” Austin head coach Cindy Owen said. “They did a nice job with senior leadership this year and we wish them the best. I hope the returning girls will work hard in the offseason.”
