An Austin resident says  he found his cat was shot with a pellet gun after getting out of his residence on the 1800 block of Second Avenue Southeast on Monday afternoon.

The resident told police the cat was last seen alive around 3:30 p.m. Monday before being found deceased in the driveway around 4 p.m., according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

The owner wasn’t sure how the cat got out of the house. It was reported to police around 2:13 p.m. Tuesday.
