Marcella ‘Sally’ Amelia Carlson, 99

Marcella “Sally” Amelia Carlson, 99, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Sacred Heart Care Center, Austin, Minnesota.
She was born Oct. 23, 1916, to John and Rose (Gute) Peterson in Austin, Minnesota. Sally married Edwin Carlson on Jan. 14, 1946 and resided in Austin for her entire life.
Sally was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was very active with the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed bowling, her 500 card club, doing crafts, cooking, reading and being with her family. She enjoyed people and visiting.
Her neighbor, Lorene Rector, was a loyal visitor and friend visiting Sally every Wednesday at the Scared Heart Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Raymond and John Peterson, sisters Mildred Perl and Evelyn Kennedy.
Sally is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and David Ludvigsen, Kasson, Minnesota; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Marilyn Carlson, Grand Rapids, Minnesota; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Huber Dehn, Waterville, Minnesota; nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Sacred Heart Care Center staff where she resided for almost five years; they were like family to her.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Mark Niethammer officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
