Jon Paul “Cookies” Homuth, 37, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at his family’s farm.
He was born Aug. 24, 1979 in Owatonna the son of Myron and Karen (Kelly) Homuth. Jon graduated from Owatonna High School with the Class of 1998. Shortly thereafter he began his career with Fastenal as well as continuing to help on the family farm. Jon currently manages the Austin Fastenal store. Jon married Casey Kunkel Dec. 4, 2004, at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. The couple has lived in rural Owatonna where Jon enjoyed raising his two wonderful children, Madison and Kaden. He was a very loving and hands on father teaching his kids about farm life, hunting, fishing, and coaching their sports.
Jon loved outdoor activities. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and softball player. He played adult league softball and coached the Owatonna Crush Girls Fastpitch Softball Team. Jon loved to go four-wheeling, spend time with his kids outdoors and was proud of his service as an Ellendale Firefighter and EMT.
He is survived by his wife Casey Homuth of Owatonna; children, Madison and Kaden Homuth; parents, Myron and Karen Homuth of Owatonna; brother, Barry (and Jackie) Homuth of Owatonna; father and mother in law, Jeff and Patty Kunkel of Ellendale; sister in law, Jamie (and Brian) Riley of Austin; nephews, Chris and Dylan Homuth; niece, Ella Riley and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, and at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klawiter officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
