Volunteers are getting ready for another autumn dose of service.

The United Way of Mower County’s annual Day of Caring will kick off with breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Austin High School cafeteria on Saturday.

After that, volunteers will head out to their project sites. Most will be done within two to four hours. The projects range from simple window washing and yard cleanup to deck removal and waterproofing. The projects help homeowners who might not otherwise be able to get projects done.
