Niels Christiansen will celebrate his 90th birthday from 1 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the American Legion, 809 12th St. SW, Austin, Minnesota.

Niels was born in Randers, Denmark and immigrated to America with his parents. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and fought the Japanese in World War II. He met the love of his life while on leave and married Kathryn “Kimmie” Kimlickla and together they raised 10 children.
