Austin police cited a 58-year-old woman for illegally burning plastic in northwest Austin Wednesday night after a report of a strong burining plastic smell.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Fifth Street Northwest around 11:45 p.m. and found a woman burning plastic and what appeared to be window blinds in her back yard.

She didn’t have any response when officers asked her why she didn’t just throw them away.

She was cited for burning prohibited materials.

Similarly, a man was cited Aug. 15 for illegally burning a TV in southeast Austin.
