Openings still available for Austin Police Department’s Citizen Academy

The Austin Police Department still has room for five to 10 people to join its next Citizen Academy to educate the public on police work.
Police Chief Brian Krueger called for more people to sign up for the second year of the program, which runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on six Tuesdays — Sept. 13, 20 and 27 and Oct. 4, 11 and 18.
As of Wednesday, seven people had signed up.
