The Hayfield volleyball team battled hard in a loss to Stewartville (1-3 overall, 1-0 HVL) by scores of 19-25, 25-17, 25-10, 25-22 on the road Thursday.

Carrie Rutledge had 10 kills and 14 digs for the Vikings (2-1 overall, 0-1 HVL).

“Both teams battled tonight, probably one of the most even match-ups in a long time,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “Scrappy defense and long rallies made the game very exciting. We were on the losing end tonight, but be stronger for it when it comes to the end of the season.”
