Elizabeth Maria “Marie” Norman, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Good Samaritan Comforcare in Austin succumbing to Cancer.

Marie was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Lollar, Germany, to Heinrich and Katharine Elisabeth (Krombach) Wolf. She lost her mother in child birth and father to the war. Marie was briefly cared for by her aunt, Helen Krombach until Helen emigrated to the United States. Marie joined Alvin and Helen (Krombach) Newman in the United States in 1958 and settled in Michigan City, Indiana; living with Alvin and Helen whom she thought of as Mom and Dad. Her brother, Karl Hinz Wolf followed shortly after to live with Alvin, Helen and Marie.

On June 11, 1960, Marie was joined in marriage to James Robert Norman in Michigan City, Indiana. This union produced two daughters; Kathy (Tom) Eeten and Tina (Tony) Corporan. Marie was very proud of her two grandchildren; Ivy Corporan and James Eeten. Marie also had a committed relationship with Cliff Wilde who passed away in 2012.

In June of 1972 the family moved to Austin, Minnesota, where Marie worked in several restaurants including the House of Pizza, Quick Stop Sandwich Shop, Smith’s Royal Bar and Sports Bar.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Heinrich and Katharine Wolf, Alvin and Helen Newman; her husband, James; her partner, Cliff Wilde; and her brother, Karl Hinz Wolf.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Mayer Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Behling officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and also one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Wednesday.
