David Lee Monty, 66, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died suddenly at his home on Friday, Jan 22, 2016.

David was born April 20, 1949, to David E. and Betty Monty of Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Austin High School in 1967 and went directly into the U.S. Navy for four years and received several medals, including a Purple Heart.

In 1978, David moved to Sandpoint, and found he loved it there with his family and several dogs. They were great companions for him. Dave is survived by David John Monty and wife, Michelle, and their sons John and Matthew; Jason Daniel Monty, Addison and Dawson, and Jason’s fiancé, Amy Matiski; Makala and Olivia; and daughter Danielle Duff and het husband, Sean.

Mother Betty Tindal Monty, Sisters Cheryl and Sandra. David has several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by father David E. Monty, son Justin Lee Monty. Grandparents David F. Monty and Lee Dawson and Margert Tindal.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at the Austin Veterans of Foreign Wars club in Austin, Minnesota.
