David and Steven Loeding

On Oct. 1, we will celebrate the lives of David and Steven Loeding at a memorial picnic.

David Loeding was born Nov. 7, 1954, and passed away in Hilo, Hawaii, on May 21, 2016. Steven Loeding was born on April 1, 1956, and passed away in Fowler, Indiana, on July 8, 2016. Both brothers grew up in Mapleview, Minnesota, and still have many family members and friends in the Austin area.

David Loeding graduated from Austin Central High School in 1973. He was an accomplished cellist and gymnast and was inducted into the athletic hall of fame for Austin High in 2011. He lived in Korea for many years where he taught english at the University of Seoul and played cello for the Korean symphony. He settled in Hilo Hawaii when he returned to the states where he lived with his daughter, Jinju.

Steven Loeding also attended Austin Central High School as part of the class of 1974. Steven lived in Alaska while serving in the Army. He had two sons, Jeremy and Justin Loeding. He returned to Mapleview and lived there until 2006 when he relocated to Mississippi to help with the rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. He lived in Fowler, Indiana, at the time of his death.

We have chosen to honor both brothers at a memorial picnic to be held at McAllister Park in Mapleview, Minnesota, under the pavilion named for their grandmother, Marcella (Sally) Wentzel. Please join us anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016.
