Cheryl A. Bell, 63, of Austin, Minnesota, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
Cheryl Ann Solberg was born Jan. 7, 1953, in Austin the daughter of Edward and Isabelle (Alard) Solberg. A 1971 Austin High School graduate, Cheryl worked as a waitress before going to work at the YMCA for more than 30 years as a lifeguard, helping with gymnastics, senior fitness, front desk and maintenance work. On July 1, 1972, Cheryl married Mike Bell at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. The couple raised two children. She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, spending time with her grandchildren, and was an active member of St. Augustine.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Bell of Austin; her daughter, Shannon (Scott) Norman of Cologne, Minnesota; her son, Tony Bell (Samantha Eslinger) of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; her parents, Edward and Isabelle Solberg of Austin; four grandchildren: Morgan, Ethan, Alex, and Eleanor; siblings: Steve (Jenelle) Solberg of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Diane (Tom) Arends of Austin; brother-in-law, Bill (Jan) Bell of Austin; and sister-in-law, Sue (Bob) Schmidt of Albert Lea, Minnesota. Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, David Bell, and sister-in-law, Mary Bates.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father James Steffes officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
