Close to a thousand downtown Austin Utilities customers were without power for about an hour Monday starting around 7:30 a.m. when a main feeder cable failed and tripped a bus at a substation, according to Austin Utilities Electric Distribution Director Tom Tylutki.

Utilities restored power first to Austin High School and got all customers back up by 8:30 a.m. and was trouble shooting to isolate where the problem occurred, Tylutki said, adding that they may need to replace some equipment.
