The Austin boys soccer team turned on the switch down the stretch to beat Rochester John Marshall (0-3 overall, 0-1 Big Nine) 4-3 in Rochester Thursday.

Abel Gebrekiros, a senior, finished off his hat trick when he scored the game winning goal with just under five minutes to go. JM had led 3-1, but Austin’s Mooday Wah made it 3-2 when he scored with 22:51 left in the game and Gebrekiros tied the game at 3-3 with 9:57 left.

“It says a whole lot about the guys and mentally where they’re at. They have that attitude that it’s not it’s not over until the ref blows the whistle,” Austin head coach Jens Levisen said. “It was a hard fought game and the kids showed a lot of heart. It speaks volumes to who we are as a team and to our leaders.”
