Best Bets: The Pack is back

Area residents are ready for last three-day weekend of summer break as most Austin students ready to return to school on Tuesday. Though many families will be out and about, some events are still planned around the area for those sticking closer to home.

1. Austin Packer football

Art Hass Stadium, 7 p.m. Friday

The Pack is back. The Austin Packer football team will host its first home game of the season at Art Hass stadium Friday when the boys welcome Rochester John Marshall.

2. Masonic Pancake Feed

9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Austin Masonic Lodge

An all you can eat pancake feed is being hosted by the Austin Masons for $5 per person. Enjoy pancakes, sausages, orange juice, milk and coffee.

3. Chateau Raceway

6:30 p.m. hotlaps, 7 p.m. races at Chateau Raceway, 54219 266 St., Lansing

The Chateau Raceway season is still going strong as it prepares to welcome the USMTS Hunt For the Casey’s Cup race. The cars will rev into another Friday night of racing. Kids 12 and under are free. Adult tickets are $18, while pit passes are $35.

4. Elvis & Marilyn – DC Drifters

7:30 p.m. Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center in Albert Lea

Some Austin residents are making the short drive over to Albert Lea to hear Denny and the DC Drifters take the stage to play 1950s music and some Elvis-themed Las Vegas music. Tickets are $15.
