Best Bets: Music, meals and Relay luminaries

Published 11:02 am Thursday, September 29, 2016

As the leaves keep changing colors, Austin is serving up meals and music this weekend. Along with a full plate of meals for good causes, hometown favorite Charlie Parr returns for another show at the Historic Paramount Theatre. Then Mower County Relay for Life will — weather permitting — complete some unfinished business from this year’s relay when it lights  the luminaries.

6. Relay for Life luminary lighting ceremony

6:30 p.m. on Sunday in downtown Austin on Main Street between Second Avenue Northwest and Fourth Avenue Northwest (corner of Steve’s Pizza)

After weather forced this year’s Mower County Relay for Life indoors at the Mower County Fairgrounds and postponed the lighting ceremony, organizers are now ready to light up the luminaries to honor those who’ve succumbed to cancer, those fighting and those who’ve beat the illness. If there is a high likelihood of rain then the event will be canceled.
