Galen and Phyllis Lastine celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2, 2016.

They were married on Sept. 2, 1951, in the First Baptist Church in downtown, Austin, Minnesota.

A family picnic hosted by their children was held to celebrate the occasion on Saturday, Aug. 27, at LaFayette Park in Austin. Children are: Bryce and Dolly Lasting, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Cathy and Gary Johnson, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Scott and Jean Lastine, Edina, Minnesota and Tim and Oksana Lastine, Rochester, Minnesota. They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Galen was a Hormel salesman and they lived in LaCrosse, Wausau, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Laurel, Maryland until retiring and returning to Austin, Minnesota, in 1993, where they were both raised.
