Residents report garage burglaries

Two Austin garages were burglarized over the weekend.

According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, officers responded to the first incident around 4:45 p.m. on Friday in the 900 block of Eighth Street Northwest. The victim reported that an unknown person entered the garage and pried the door open between Aug. 8 and Aug. 12.

A chop saw, wooden toy chest, car parts, brake pads, tools, and a wooden table, among other items, were reported stolen and valued around $950.

Officers responded to another report of burglary Saturday morning in the 500 block of 10th Street Southwest.

The victim reported that unknown persons entered the locked garage and stole $700 worth of items sometime between Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. He also said their garage door opener was stolen from one of his vehicles in the last couple weeks.

Among items missing include: a leaf blower, trek bike, Craftsmen dual tank air cart and a mirror from a Harley Davidson.

There are no suspects in either case at this time.
