Letter: Boycott is missing from Target’s recent financial analysis

I read with interest the Associated Press article published in Wednesday’s Daily Herald regarding Target’s nearly 10 percent loss in net income for this past quarter. The analysis was given that these losses were likely the result of several factors including the Target credit card breach in 2013, competition from Amazon.com, and financially cautious shoppers. Blatantly missing from this analysis is the fact that over 1.4 million Americans have been boycotting Target since April which is certainly having a measurable impact. The reason for this boycott is because of Target’s official in-store policy allowing any person identifying as any gender to use any restroom or fitting room they choose. As long as Target places a higher value on political correctness and radical social engineering than on protecting the safety and innocence of its customers, the boycott appears to be well founded.
