King Buffet evicted, owes more than $55K in unpaid rent and fees
Austin’s King Buffet is closed after being evicted for more than $55,000 in unpaid rent.
According to civil court records, King Buffet restaurant owner Chang Liang Chen of Mason City, Iowa, owes $55,227 in unpaid rent along with attorney fees dictated in the lease to property owner BRE Retail Residual Owner 3 LLC.
BRE gave King Buffet a first notice of default on Dec. 17, 2015, and a second notice on Feb. 25 and didn’t receive payment after either notice. BRE filed the civil lawsuit on July 22, and an eviction hearing was held Aug. 9.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Department posted an eviction notice on the building earlier this week.
