The Hayfield volleyball team opened its season with an 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 win over Fillmore Central in Hayfield Thursday.

Carrie Rutledge had 11 kills and 16 digs in the win for the Vikings (1-0 overall).

“It was a good first match for us to see where we were at against a very good team,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “They’re good and scrappy.”
