Greyhounds take down Eagan on the road

The Austin Greyhounds closed in on a top three seed in the section tournament after they picked ups 3-1 win at Eagan (5-5 Section) Tuesday.

Nels Nelson struck out seven and allowed zero earned runs in seven innings for the Hounds (7-10 overall, 4-3 Section).

“Nels threw very well in the hot conditions,” Hounds co-manager John Frein said. “It’s a good win for us. It puts in control of our own outcome in earning a two seed.”

The Hounds took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Matt Cano and Logan Spitzak each had an RBI.

The Hounds will host the Savage Outlaws Wednesday after the Outlaws and Austin Blue Sox play at 6:30 p.m.
