Dee Ann Wilmot, 72

Dee Ann Wilmot, 72, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Our House Memory Care.

Dee Ann Lange was born Dec. 9, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Della (McDaniel) Lange. Dee graduated from Austin High School in 1961 before receiving her two-year degree from Riverland Community College where she studied in the secretarial course and attended a graphics program. Dee made her living as a secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church. On Dec. 24, 1961, she married Wayne A. Wilmot in Austin. The couple had two children and were later divorced. Dee lived in California for a few years after her marriage, then returned to Austin, where she was a member of the Horticultural Society. Dee enjoyed walking, getting together with high school friends, attending plays at the Paramount Theater, fishing, oil and watercolor painting, taking Tai Chi classes, and listening to ‘50s music, especially Buddy Holly. She had a special interest in old cars.

Dee is survived by her two children: Wayne (Barb Zeller) Wilmot of Alden, Minnesota, and Susie (Monte) Kuehl of Madison Lake, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Michelle and Cherie; three great-grandchildren: Lauraelai, Annabelle, and Lillyana; and her special friends Jim Dunlop and Wanda Boyd. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Della Lange.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., immediately preceding the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials can be directed to the Mower County Senior Center, the Hormel Nature Center, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the American Cancer Society.
