Board to talk bridge, recycling contracts

The Mower County board is expected to discuss an upcoming bridge project and its recycling contracts with Cedar Valley Services at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday.
The board is expected to discuss a $1.85 million grant for the upcoming $2.6 million replacement of the Oakland Place Southeast bridge, which is slated to start construction around Oct. 27. After a winter construction, the project is expected to be completed in May 2017.
Then the board will discuss the contract for Cedar Valley Services to request curbside and business recycling around Austin.
The county is slated to add plastics Nos. 3-7 and to increase pickup to the first four weeks of the month starting Sept. 1. For several years, Cedar Valley Services has contracted to collect curbside recycling.
The county board meets in the basement board room of the Mower County Government Center, 201 First St. NE, Suite 9. The meeting starts at 8:35 a.m. with a Correctional Services department report followed by community health business at 9 a.m. and then committee reports and other business around 9:15 a.m.
