Best Bets: Harvey hitting the Summerset stage

Take the opportunity to take in Summerset Theatre’s final performance of the summer as it wraps up its 49th season. There’s also an opportunity take in some baseball and even check out the sport of archery.

1. ‘Harvey’

7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday night; 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Frank W. Bridges Theatre

Summerset Theatre will bring its 49th season to a close with three presentations of the stage adaptation of “Harvey.” The play features Elwood P. 2. Austin Greyhounds vs. Austin Blue Sox

7:30 p.m., Friday at Marcusen Park

3. State softball tournaments

All day Saturday and Sunday

Fast pitch teams from around the state will be in Austin for a pair of state tournaments: the MSF/NSF U12-18C Girls State Fast Pitch Tournament and the MSF/NSF U12-U14-16D Girls State Fast Pitch Tournament. Games are played at the Todd Park Complex. For more information call 507-433-1881.

4. Cedar River Archery Club Youth Archery Event

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar River Archery Club, 54691 270th St.

This free event aims to open up the world of archery to youth. The event will include safety instruction, shooting instruction, target and 3D shooting and lunch. Visitors will also be able to take a walk through the woods and learn how to understand animal game trails. A National Wild Turkey Federation BB gun target house will also be on hand. 5. Don Deines Alzheimer’s Fundraiser

1 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center

This event featuring Pat and Donna Surface with the Boundary Water Boys and Marina Whight is a free event featuring stories, humor and sing-alongs. Freewill donations will also be accepted and donated toward Alzheimer’s research. For more information call 507-437-7519.
