Austin gets 1-2.5 inches of rain

The latest round of rains dropped anywhere from 1 to 2.5 inches of rain around Austin with the heaviest rains falling to the south.

A line of storms moved through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, dropping about 2.45 inches of rain at the Austin Wastewater Treatment Plant, bringing the August rainfall total there to about 5.7 inches, according to The National Weather Service.

Local rainfall totals tapered off to the north, and about 1.28 was reported along Turtle Creek in northwest Austin.

For the year, Austin has received around 30 inches of rain, which up a bit from the average of 24.59 inches through Aug. 24.

For the latest storm, the heaviest rains fell south in Iowa, especially around Decorah, Iowa, where reports ranged from 7.1 to more than 8 inches of rain.
