The 6th Annual Seth Pack Golf Classic will be held Aug. 5 at the Oaks Golf Course in Hayfield, starting at 11 a.m.

The set-up is a 4-person scramble. There are three divisions with cash prizes awarded to winning teams: men’s, women’s, and mixed. Cost is $60 per golfer, which includes cart, meal, one raffle ticket, and 18-holes of golf. There will be a raffle drawing during and after the golf tournament there will be many valuable items given away.

Participants need not be present to win they and don’t have to golf to be eligible to win prizes. Raffle tickets are $5 for 1, $10 for 3, or $20 for 8. In the first five years of the event, it has raised over $25,000. All proceeds go to the ARC of SE Minnesota in Rochester. Families and schools that have children with Down Syndrome can apply for $200 grants yearly.

Seth Pack, who has Down syndrome, is now nine years old and will be going into third grade next fall. He is a busy kid, playing basketball and coach pitch baseball, swimming, riding bike.

“He is reading close to grade level, doing addition and subtraction, scoring well on spelling tests and really surprising us with everything that he can do,” Seth’s father Chris Pack said. “We were fortunate to be able to give him plenty of extra resources to help him in many areas and are really glad we can help other families out that have kids with Down syndrome too because of all the money we raise through this fundraiser. We appreciate all the support over the years for this event.”
