Ruby Meister, 94

Ruby Meister, 94, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Sacred Heart Care Center.

Ruby Maxine was born on April 10, 1922, at Rose City, Minnesota to Bernie and Othellia (Christiansen) Anderson. She graduated from Adams High School in 1939. Ruby married Luther Meister on Dec. 7, 1942, at the parsonage in Adams, Minnesota.

Ruby and Luther lived in the Rose Creek, Minnesota area where they farmed and raised their four children. She was a long time member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota where she was active in Circle and Ladies Aide. In 2011, Ruby and Luther transferred their membership to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin.

In 1994, one of her dreams came true when they built their house in Austin. She was a caring and supportive mother and so loved making novelty birthday cakes for her grandchildren, anything from a Barbie doll to a Mickey Mouse to an 88 Oliver tractor. For many years, she personally made 100 dozen lefse for the Adams Little Cedar Lutheran Church lutefisk supper

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.

Ruby is survived by her husband Luther Meister, Austin, Minnesota; children: Gary (Cecile) Meister, Mound, Minnesota, Darlene Voeltz, Rochester, Minnesota, Ron (Diane) Meister, Scottsdale, Arizona, and Cheryl (Jim) Dieser, Eden Valley, California; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister: Elaine Ross, Austin, Minnesota; nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to: Chances for Children in Haiti or International Health Partners in Tanzania.
