Robert Eugene Dahlback, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

He was born July 17, 1941, in Austin to Edwin and Irene (Peters) Dahlback. Following his 1959 Austin High School graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country from September 1959 until his honorable discharge in September of 1963. He returned to Austin and on Feb. 20, 1965, was united in marriage to Beverly Bawek at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Bob bartended at the Alcove Supper Club, then worked at Firestone before beginning a 29-year career at Hormel Foods Corp., retiring in 1995. Bob loved sports, both playing and as a spectator. He was a bowler, a golfer, and enjoyed woodworking. A lifelong resident of Austin, Bob belonged to St. Augustine Catholic Church, the American Legion Post No. 91 and its honor guard, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 703.

Survivors include his daughters, Lori (Tom) Martin of Pine Island, Darci (Tim) Martin of McHenry, Illinois, and Kris (Tim) Burkey of Austin; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; siblings Duane Dahlback of Austin, Dennis Dahlback of Sacramento, California, and Carole Bybee of Nevada. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Irene; wife, Bev on May 25, 1992; grandson, Tyler Burkey on Dec. 18, 2015; sister-in-law, Diane Dahlback; and brother-in-law, Irvin Bybee.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Father Dale Tupper officiating. The Dahlback Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery.
