‘Murder Room’ kicks off busy weekend

An enjoyable weekend is coming up. From a 1950s-themed car show at the legion to a family fun night at the Austin Municipal Pool, there will be plenty of options to go out with friends and family this weekend.

1. The Murder Room

7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Frank W. Bridges Theatre of Riverland Community College

Summerset Theatre’s second 2016 production is zany spoof of British murder mysteries featuring a cast in “a plethora of hilarious situations.” For tickets and more information, contact the box office at 507-433-0595 or go to www.summersettheatre.org.

2. Third Annual Austin Clean Water Festival: Clean Water Service Day

Events running from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center.

To wrap up the week-long program Water Festival, clean water service day will have events such as a river clean up at 8:30 a.m., a staff led water quality testings at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a no dumping/drains to river program from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and a sewage treatment plant tour at 2 p.m.

3. LeRoy Summerfest

All day in LeRoy, Friday-Sunday

4. Family Fun night

7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday the Austin Municipal Pool

5. Spruce Up Austin Yard and Garden Tour

11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at various locations in Austin

This self-guided tour will show off gardens and yards throughout Austin. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the event and are available at The Hardy Geranium, Berg’s Nursery, SuperFresh Garden Center and Dolan’s Landscape. For more information, go to www.spruceupaustin.org.

6. Sola Fide observatory viewing

9 p.m. Saturday at the Sola Fide Observatory

7. Fight for Ferch benefit

11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Austin Eagles Club

Fundraiser for Jason Ferch, an Austin resident and Mower County Health and Human Services case manager who has been in the hospital for several months facing various health complications. The benefit includes a silent auction, bake sale, raffle and serve burger baskets.

8. Fourth annual American Legion Classic Car Show

Registration from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sunday and show is from noon to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 91.

Food, ’50s and ’60s music, silent auction, raffles, games, bake sale and more. Entertainment will be in the club after the show. Entry fee is $10 and additional cars will be $5 each. For more information, contact the American Legion at 507-437-1151.

9. Packer Classic Golf Tournament

11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Austin Country Club

10. Hormel Historic Home Peace Garden Concert: The Bazillions

6:30 p.m. Monday at the Hormel Historic Home
