Man drowns after jumping into lake in northeast Minnesota

GILBERT — A man has drowned after jumping off a cliff into a lake on northeastern Minnesota’s Iron Range.

Rescue agencies were called to the beach on Ore-be-Gone Lake in Gilbert at about 6 p.m. Saturday for a water emergency.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Jeremy Stevens of Mountain Iron drowned when he jumped off one of the cliffs into the lake.

WDIO-TV reports Stevens was with four other people in the lake.
