Get introduced to The Arc

A Teen Open House will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Arc Mower County on July 12.

This free event is open to people with intellectual disabilities ages 13-18 and their families.

Play bingo, tour The Arc, have pizza, dance, meet staff, eet other families and current members, play games and socialize, ssk questions, learn about membership and activity registration and future activity planning.

 SSI application window extended

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that beginning Aug. 1 youth who are blind or who have disabilities may apply for SSI benefits up to 180 days prior to the end of their eligibility for foster care.

The current window for application is 90 days prior to the end of eligibility for foster care, which in most states ends at age 18. This extended application period will be in effect as a one-year pilot. After the one-year trial period, SSA will determine whether to make the policy permanent.
