A 31-year-old Austin man was arrested outside Twin Towers Monday with about $500 worth of heroin.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, an officer was responding to the Twin Towers at about 3:28 p.m. to meet a maintenance worker after a complaint about a chemical smell at the 308 Second Ave. NE apartments. When waiting outside, the officer saw the 31-year-old suspect, whom he knew from work with informants.
The officer asked if the suspect had any drugs on him and located a bag with about 2.5 grams of heroin with a street value of about $500, according to Krueger.
He was arrested for drug possession, but he has not been formally charged.
Officers later obtained a warrant to search the suspect’s Twin Towers apartment, but it was not in the same area where the chemical smell was reported.
