Since meteorologists are warning of a chance of a high rain and thunderstorms tonight, Vision 2020 and its partners moved its annual downtown party indoors.

The fourth Downtown Summer Kickoff will now feature music and entertainment at the Historic Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE, and kids activities will be at the Austin YMCA, 704 First Drive NW.

The Summer Kickoff Jam starts at 5:30 p.m. tonight. This year’s main entertainment will feature local musicians in an “extended jam session” in celebration of the ArtRocks Jam Sessions at the Austin Artworks Center. A house band will accompany singers and instrumentalists from around the area.

Several local organizations, like the YMCA, Austin Bruins, Yoga Studio of Austin and Austin Public School’s VEX Robotics, will be lined up with activities for families. Downtown restaurants will have special deals on food and drinks, and the Austin Jaycees will host a beer garden for adults.
