Nathan Lee McFarland, 32 of Austin, Minnesota, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.

Nathan was born May 17, 1984 in Austin the son of George A. McFarland, Jr and Jane (Gilbert) McFarland. He attended Austin Public Schools and Riverland Community College in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Nathan married Natalie Johnson on July 21, 2013, in Austin. He was recently employed as a mechanic at TT Motorcycles in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. Prior to that, Nathan was employed at Kenny’s Oak Grill for 10 years.

Nathan played hockey and baseball as a youngster and enjoyed golfing and spending time at French Lake. He was looking forward to the coming winter and sharing snowmobiling with Natalie with the snowmobile gift from Uncle David. Natalie and Nathan enjoyed their “goofy” times together, walks, bike rides and watching “The Walking Dead”.  Nathan loved spending time with family and friends; recently enjoying a family vacation at Gull Lake and had hopes of retiring to northern Minnesota. Nathan’s children meant the world to him, he loved being a daddy.

Nathan had a way of putting a smile on your face when you were having a down day. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Nathan is survived by his wife: Natalie McFarland; children: Addison Lynn, Jaxson George, and Ava Jeannine; mother and stepfather: Jane McFarland and Peter Lange; brother: George Jesse (Ryan) McFarland; mother-in-law and fathers-in-law: Cindy (Larry) Powell and Scott Johnson; brother-in-law: Matthew Johnson; step-brother: Ethan Lange (Kayla Meyer); step-sisters: Brandi (Davis) Lyon, Riley (Jonathon) Moreno; grandparents: Arlys Risius, Kenneth and JoAnne Gilbert, Jerry and Jeannine Kellogg, Avis Johnson and Dennis Pavlik; special uncle, David (Jill) McFarland, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. McFarland, Jr, paternal grandparents Gertrude Pavlik and George A. McFarland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Oakland, Minnesota at a later date. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour before the service.
