Darren Dash set for Sunday

This 5th annual Darren Dash will honor the life of Austin native and running enthusiast, Darren Lewis this Sunday.

All events will start and end at Lafayette Park, which is locatedin Austin. Participants will receive a tee shirt. The half marathon will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8:15 a.m.  Water stops and post race refreshments will be provided for all participants.

The Kiddie Run will take place at 11 a.m. Awards will be given to top three runners in each age group for the 5K and all finishers for the half marathon will be given a Darren Dash finisher medal.

Proceeds from this event will go to a scholarship fund for Austin Cross Country runners and for programs committed to improving mental and physical health in the community.  Darren Dash has given out over $8,000 in scholarships to date.

Registration can be done on line atwww.darrendash.org, at the Eagles on Saturday June 4 from 5-8 pm, the morning of the race from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. at Lafayette Park or anytime before June 3 at Lewis Physical Therapy and Fitness Center at 130 3rd Ave. N.W. in Austin.

There is a need for more volunteers to help at water stops and directional turns on the half marathon route.  Please contact Scott Lewis atslewistherapy@aol.com if you are available to volunteer.  All volunteers receive a volunteer Darren Dash shirt.

The B & J Bar and Grill will host a post race party Sunday.
