“We don’t know if it’s from the accident, we don’t know if it’s a medical [issue], we don’t know,” Skillestad said. “[McFarland] will go to an autopsy, and we’re just waiting to hear back from the medical examiner.”

Skillestad said McFarland was described by his wife as a loving husband and father of three young children, ages 9, 3 and 6 weeks, and that the family had requested privacy.

A passenger on the ATV, Kevin Maday, also was injured in the crash, Skillestad said, and was treated and releasedWednesday at Austin Medical Center for a broken nose, cracked ribs and other cuts and bruises.

McFarland was an employee at TT Motorcycles in Blooming Prairie, Skillestad said, as is Maday. Attempts to reach the company Thursday morning were not immediately returned.
