Open auditions for the Albert Lea Cantori, a choral ensemble from Albert Lea and surrounding areas, will be held on Thursday, June 30 at Salem Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Women’s auditions will be from 6:30-7 p.m. Men’s auditions will take place at 7 p.m. Anyone who enjoys singing is encouraged to come.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to bring a simple song or hymn to sing. There will also be group singing for the audition. While reading music is helpful, it is not necessary. The Cantori handbook and schedules will be reviewed as well.

Auditions are open for all parts, but the ensemble is especially looking for male singers. Repertoire includes all periods of music, classical secular and sacred, from Renaissance to contemporary.

Albert Lea Cantori began in 1972. The season runs from the end of August to the end of April. Cantori performs at least two major concerts each season, one in November and one in April with occasional participation in other concerts during the year.

Cantori recently sang at St. Marys Chapel in Rochester and has been described as one of the best choral ensembles in the area. Eileen Nelson Ness is the director. For questions or more information, call 507-377- 2075.
